The (Yukon) Canadian Lynx roams the upper half of the North American Continent. Several reintroduction attempts are being made in Colorado. A previous attempt in New York failed. You can find out current Lynx reintroduction information here.
Lynx are very shy cats and tend to avoid humans in the wild. It is rare to catch a glimpse of this animal. A human may feel lucky for catching a glimpse of the feline, while a Lynx is the last thing a snowshoe hare wants to see.
There habitat has been severely encroached over the past few decades, ruducing the snow hare poulation, thus reducing the Canadian Lynx population.
As more and more land is developed for human use, less and less Lynx will be able to survive, leaving only extreme habitats such as these for the Lynx to call home.
